Greg Norman Golf Course Design has been hired to create a new 18-hole golf course in the Central American nation of Belize.
The course will form part of a new luxury destination on Caye Chapel Island, which lies 18 kilometres from Belize City in the Caribbean.
“Caye Chapel is an extraordinary destination and I am thrilled to be part of the resort’s long-term vision and development,” says Norman. “I take serious the sensitivity of designing a golf course and its effect on the eco-system. I will work in concert with the development team to create a course that is environmentally sound while providing a playable and memorable experience for all golfers.”
The new course will form part of a new resort being developed by two prominent Mexican developers – Thor Urbana Capital and Inmobilia. The resort will also be home to a luxury hotel, a private landing strip, marina, and a commercial shopping centre.
