The Image Factory Art Foundation, in collaboration with the Pen Cayetano Studio Gallery hosted the book launch of the second edition for the children’s book “We are free” written by Ibo and Ingrid Cayetano and designed by Mali Cayetano.
Malí Cayetano, born in Dangriga, nurtured in the home of Pen Cayetano, Garifuna artist and musician, and Ingrid Cayetano from Germany, artist in her own right, was raised with the desire to promote and preserve the Garifuna culture.
As an illustrator, musician and artist, she has been teaching children in Belize and Germany about the Garifuna culture. Under her company name “Fáluma” she published two children´s books entitled “We are free – A story about the origin of the Garinagu“ (2010) and “Wanaragua – A unique traditional mask dance“ (2013).
The second edition of “We are free” was launched on January 7th at 10:20am at the Image Factory, North Front Street in Belize City. Original art work by Malí Cayetano and other merchandise was on display and can be viewed until 21. January 2016.
